I’m a mother of three and a woman with many interests, transplanted from the southwest to the midwest. I never quite pictured myself in this place, doing this work, but somehow I’m living the life of my dreams. Most days.
Here are twenty-five random things about me from a recent Facebook meme, or below are some slightly more theme-based thoughts on some broad topics. Click on the headers to read a bit more detail about each one.
On family: I have three wacky and wonderful children–names withheld to protect the guilty innocent:
- A, a 13 year old teen/boy, 8th grade
- N, a 11 year old boy, 6th grade
- K, a.k.a. Ashley, a 8 year old girl, 3rd grade
- and G, my gracious husband.
On faith: I consider myself a moderate, passionate, humbled Christian. Depending on the circle, I might appear to be the Bible-thumper, the liberal, or something in between. I love to learn about different faith perspectives, so please consider yourself welcome whatever your faith tradition (or not). Sometimes I’ll share my own thoughts on faith, and I encourage respectful discourse. I’ve grown tremendously from such conversations and I hope you will too.
On flux: I’ve been a full time career parent, a “stay home” (hardly) mom, and everything in between. I’ve enjoyed the benefits and stresses of both. I’m much more interested in building community than competing over which is best. Right now I’m juggling part time career and volunteer efforts with mixed results. I feel very fortunate to have such confusing choices right now.
I’ve launched a business to help parents, caregivers, teachers and community leaders improve communication and relationship skills. Drop me a note if you’d like to hear more about workshops for your school, church or community.
Thanks for joining the conversation–I look forward to hearing from you!
