catching up
As I slowly emerge (please, oh please) from the deep, dark, burning pit also known as shingles, it’s time to catch up on a few things. The day I fell into the aforementioned pit, I received some feedback that I just can’t help but share with you. I know it’s a little self-gratifying, but sharing good news helps my blisters heal faster. Will you allow me a pass, just for today?
- My channeling hope post was featured over at Blogger’s Annex. You may have already read this one, but go ahead and check out the other moving, inspiring, and hilarious posts at Blogger’s Annex just for fun.
- I received encouraging feedback from a writer and editor I admire. Perhaps I’m not so insane spending a ridiculous amount of time in this internet world. If I can just figure out where this path and my dim little flashlight is leading me, I might find my way.
- I didn’t get any snarky comments about my post on faith. I’m pleased, but if anyone was put off, please, snark away. I’ll carefully consider all comments and then I’ll follow my heart (because it is my blog), but still, your feedback does matter to me.
- My new friend Heather at the Extraordinary Ordinary gave me a little award–my first ever!

So now I can join the real blogger’s club by filling my sidebars with mysterious buttons. Maybe. Anyway, it still feels good to be noticed. Thanks, Heather!
In receiving this solemn award, I am to name five things I would want with me if stranded on a desert island. These questions are always tough for me. The obedient little girl inside feels like I should say, in a high, airy voice like a Miss America candidate, “All I need is my Bible and the people I love. And we would live happily ever after.” When I push her out of the way, here’s my gut list, without thinking too much:
- very, very dark chocolate–the kind that makes the endorphins “ping”
- my laptop, with magic internet access and battery power–then we could read anything, write, play, learn and communicate just like when I’m locked down with shingles (yes, that’s all I have on my brain these days)
- my dear husband, because he takes good care of me
- two of my three kids. Sorry, it would be a tough decision, but one must go to make room for the chocolate and laptop, and (s)he could notify the rescue party.
I hereby bequeath this award to Hope42day, because she’s just getting started and shows great promise with lovely, inspiring, poetic articles. Enjoy!

You all know that I wouldn’t really leave one of the kids behind, right?
Oh Pam, So sorry to hear about the shingles. I’ve experienced that before, and it’s as horrible as you say. I’m happy to hear that things are getting better. Now, go eat some chocolate.
